源氏絵蒔絵印籠【INRO (Medicine case) Genjie motif makie 】[k0605]

源氏物語の垣間見の場面をモチーフとした雅な印籠です。明治期の工藝品として丹念に仕上げられた本作は、横幅を広くとった形状に水紋や若松、梅に鶯といった縁起の良い図柄が組み合わされ描かれています。1～2mm程の細かな截金も散りばめられ、光の方向で輝きが変わり、一層の華やかさを引き出しています。根付は梨地に芙蓉図、緒締めには螺鈿が輝き、こちらも引けを取りません。

This elegant inro is decorated with a motif depicting the scene from The Tale of Genji where someone peeks over a fence.　Crafted with great care in the Meiji period, it features a broad, horizontally oriented form decorated with auspicious motifs such as water ripples, young pines, and plum blossoms with bush warblers. Fine kirikane work, only about 1–2 mm in size, is scattered across the surface, catching the light from different angles and adding a refined brilliance.　The accompanying netsuke, decorated with a hibiscus motif on a nashiji ground, and the raden‑inlaid ojime complement the inrō beautifully, forming a harmonious and distinguished ensemble.
